Q My landlord, a housing association, has said he has applied for a court hearing for possession. I claimed housing benefit but have not received any rent rebate yet.
A Your landlord needs to have completed the notice and the court forms correctly - they must state the reason why they want possession of your home. In court they have to show this. It is your responsibility for ensuring the rent is paid, this includes chasing the housing benefit section to make sure they pay your benefit.
If you have made attempts to claim benefit (and this is likely to clear any rent arrears) then the court is likely to adjourn the hearing.
