Q I am a single person - will my local council provide me with housing?
A Yes, they will, in some circumstances - if you are in priority need i.e. vulnerable. You may be deemed vulnerable if you are sick or disabled, as long as this leads you not be able to " secure and maintain" a tenancy.
When you approach the council you will need to ensure they are made aware of your condition and how it prevents you finding accommodation and/or maintaining it. For example some illnesses can incapacitate people for long periods at a time.
If you can show you may be in priority need, the local authority should provide temporary accommodation whilst they investigate your application, looking at:
